ERROR ANALYSIS ON SENTENCE CONSTRUCTION BY USING GRAMMAR TRANSLATION METHOD TO THE FIRST SEMESTER STUDENTS OF ARABIC EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM AT DATOKARAMA STATE ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY PALU

This is a qualitative research focusing on answering the question, “What kinds of error occur sentence construction by using Grammar Translation Method to first semester students Arabic Education Study Program at Datokarama State Islamic University Palu?” The participants this are thirty two Palu. instrument document analysis hundred Indonesian sentences translated into English. result shows that there five types occurred: (1) omission; (2) addition; (3) misformation; (4) misorder; and (5) word misuse. Omission errors can be found article for singular nouns, -s/-es ending plural marker in nominal sentences, measured quantities uncountable –s/-es verbs simple present tense. When mother tongue interferes construction, addition then took place. Misformation occurred use demonstrative determiners, subject-verb agreement perfect tense as well sentences.
